About Us

Dave Collins started a stone & monumental masons business in Burgess Hill in 1985 after serving his apprenticeship with and working for a firm of stone masons established in 1939.

Dave has over 30 years experience and is a skilled stone mason in the traditional sense and still hand letters and finishes many of the memorials supplied and created by the Downsview Monumental Company.

In 2000 Dave was joined by Rod Mason, a skilled brick and stone worker. One of Rod's claims to fame is being part of the team that designed and built the silver-gilt winning Daily Telegraph garden at the 1982 Chelsea Flower Show.

Phil Lincoln joined Dave & Rod in 2011. He has over 25 years experience working with stone and as a memorial mason after completing his apprenticeship in memorial masonary at Bath College. Phil is a skilled letter carver with the ability to match lettering on memorials for restoration.

All of the work at The Downsview Monumental Company is over-seen by Pip the very bouncy Jack Russell Terrier & client greeter!
